[TeamRC17] Re: Chain lubing - warm or cold?

I've heard that with 'o' ring type chains you should never use solvent based lubricants! ?????

This reminds me of a discussion I engaged in a long time ago in the
aus.motorcycles USENET group.

Common wisdom has it to warm the chain before using a typical spray
chain lube on it.
The way I see it, a cold chain will evaporate the solvent slower,
which would allow it to penetrate more.
If the chain should be warm to reduce the viscosity of the actual
lubricant to let it penetrate better, then I have to wonder how
it would resist fling when it gets hot in use. Not just at the
parts you can feel, but where you can't touch it and where the
lube really needs to be.
