I assume the extra piece of alloy is that rectangular section piece that's resting on top of the swingarm?

Yes, well spotted!

Was there no way you could keep the CBX (or CBR) caliper holder? (That long bar that runs from the top of the CBX caliper to the swingarm.) I'm not criticising your design, but to me, that would be a neater solution.

It may be possible, but there are some problems with keeping the CBX caliper holder. First, the diameter of the CBR brake disc is smaller. This leads to the option of modifying or even making up a new caliper mount bracket, either for the CBX or the CBR caliper to be used. It may be possible to shorten the original CBX holder by cutting and welding it back so the caliper aligns with the CBR disc.

The long bar definately looks better also in my opinion. But the CBR rim and tyre so much wider that the clearance is a problem. The bar will have to be moved outwards or bent to wrap around the wheel. The easiest is probably to use a different one.

After thinking a bit around it, I came up with the solution as shown on the picture. The exhaust pretty much hides the whole "hack" when put back on. It gets interresting though when it comes to ordering parts, such as sprockets and brake pads... :-)

Cheers,
Viking
