Good morning,

I don't suppose you have any photos or measurements of the job - it would be great up on the site.

I do have the measurements noted, so I can write a little explanation and send it to Viking so that he can put it on the website.

I presume you kept the original CBX front callipers - was it too hard to fit the CBR ones?

Yes, the front calipers are kept from the CBX. The brake discs of the two bikes are compatible. Some modifications had to be done because CBR discs were exactly 3.0mm further apart. Instead of moving the calipers, I got the rim in a lathe and removed 1.5mm from the surface of the mounts on each side. I don't think moving the calipers would work because the clearance between the CBR discs and the fork legs was too narrow. When this was done, the wheel fitted straight in. The next issue was to make up some spacers so the wheel got centered correct.

So far as the tyres go it may have been the profile of the tyre rather than the type of rubber. I know that the VFR guys reckon a flatter profile tyre is better than a "pointy" one so it might be worth having a look at the profile and look for soemthing closer to the CBX Profile. VFR guys swear by Pilot Powers but as usual there are always those that like to be different.

This is where it gets strange - the HiSport tyres were the same profile as the ones I run now. But when the two rubbers are held up against each other, it is clear - even without measuring - that the HiSport ones are narrower and sharper. The street/touring (i.e. Battlax BT020) are sort of rounder/flatter.
